Green Tourism Awards 2010

The finalists for the 2010 Green Tourism Awards were recently announced. There are some very interesting projects and programs nominated, however, what clearly stood out to me was the lack of nominees from North American, and Canada in particular.

Do you think this is because we are behind the times in sustainable practices in tourism? Or did some great tourism projects and programs that we have here in Canada, and Vancouver Island in particular, just not get noticed? Please submit your thoughts on either or both of these two questions and we’ll see if we can’t get some attention for sustainable tourism on Vancouver Island!
